Women’s Self-Help Groups (SHGs)
The bedrock of JJMVS's rural work. We mobilize village women into democratic collectives of 10 to 20 peers. Members practice regular micro-savings discipline, maintain transparent physical meeting books, and build collective voice for resolving village development issues.
- Cultivate savings discipline and mutual financial assistance.
- Develop democratic leadership and decision-making among women.
- Create a permanent platform for village-level solidarity.
- Beneficiaries: Rural women, landless workers, smallholder families.
- Activities: Bi-weekly meetings, record-keeping workshops, group rotation funds.
Education Support & Functional Literacy
Educational inequality severely limits rural women's independence. This initiative provides evening literacy camps for adult women, foundational reading and numeracy workshops, and school enrolment support for young girls from economically vulnerable households.
- Achieve functional reading, writing, and arithmetic competency.
- Prevent school dropout among adolescent girls in rural hamlets.
- Educate beneficiaries on understanding official documentation.
- Beneficiaries: Non-literate adult women and rural school-age girls.
- Activities: Village study circles, study material distribution, awareness drives.
Skill Development & Vocational Training
Delivers practical, market-relevant vocational training to equip women with income-earning capabilities. Training focuses on sewing, tailoring, pattern-making, hand embroidery, and basic craft production utilizing locally available raw materials.
- Impart certified vocational craft and garment production skills.
- Enable women to launch home-based micro-tailoring services.
- Foster technical precision and quality control standards.
- Beneficiaries: Young women, SHG members, aspiring entrepreneurs.
- Activities: 3-month tailoring courses, sewing machine workshops, master-craftsman guidance.
Livelihood & Cooperative Production
Moving from individual production to cooperative scale. JJMVS facilitates cooperative packaging and collective marketing of rural produce such as pulses, organic spices, local honey, and traditional handicrafts, ensuring producers capture fair value.
- Eliminate middleman exploitation through collective selling.
- Standardize packaging, grading, and hygiene compliance.
- Connect village micro-producers with regional fairs and markets.
- Beneficiaries: Women artisan collectives, rural farm households.
- Activities: Cooperative sorting halls, bulk procurement, exhibition stalls.
Community Awareness & Civic Rights
Grassroots social campaigns focusing on essential village welfare concerns: maternal nutrition, child immunization, sanitation habits, clean drinking water preservation, legal awareness for women, and preventing domestic violence.
- Promote preventative health and institutional childbirth safety.
- Sensitize community elders on gender equality and girl-child rights.
- Build community dispute resolution mechanisms.
- Beneficiaries: Village communities, adolescent mothers, panchayat leaders.
- Activities: Health worker dialogue, street theatre (Nukkad Natak), awareness leaflets.
Women’s Financial Awareness & Literacy
Empowering women with practical knowledge to safeguard their earnings. Training covers understanding bank savings accounts, reading passbooks, recognizing fraudulent money-doubling schemes, avoiding predatory high-interest lenders, and disciplined family budgeting.
- Demystify formal banking channels for first-time women users.
- Protect vulnerable households from debt cycles and unauthorized agents.
- Teach practical household bookkeeping and savings planning.
- Beneficiaries: SHG office bearers, rural homemakers, self-employed women.
